I live in Kalgoorlie, and have done so for the last 11 years.

The place has a reputation for being "a bit rough", but I have found the people to be generous, friendly and welcoming: not at all deserving of the reputation the town has been branded with. I am proud to be associated with many of the people I've met here.

Kalgoorlie people are "real" people: they don't suffer fools easily, they shun "political correctness" and anybody in authority who tries to throw their weight around is soon put in their place.

You won't find the "latte" or "chardonay" sets here .... just people who work hard and enjoy their time off.
